Car seat inspection clinics can be a one-day event or
an on-going service that an agency provides (which is known
as a fitting station). At these clinics, trained technicians
will inspect car seats as they are currently installe
d within
a vehicle. Trained staff mostly come from fields within public
health, law enforcement, healthcare, and EMS/Fire. Below is
a list of inspection clinics being provided around the state
in alphebetical order by city.
As you will note by the following list, very few communities
around the state of Minnesota offer this valuable service. Many
of these agencies try to incorporate car seat checks as part
of the many other tasks they accomplish. These agencies are
NOT compensated by the state child passenger safety program
to conduct car seat checks. It is possible that it will take
several weeks to schedule an appointment for an inspection.
Please plan accordingly and be courteous to the schedulers
trying to assist you in making your child's world safer!

can be found across Minnesota at various stores, such as, Target,
Walmart, Burlington Coat Factory, Babies-R-Us and Toys-R-Us
locations. Menards often has booster seats in stock.
If you obtain a used car seat, to ensure that the seat is safe
- check to be sure that the seat is less than six-years old
and has never been involved in a vehicle crash. Do not use a
car seat missing the label with the manufacturing date, model
number and original instructions, or one that has missing or
broken parts.
Purchasing used car seats through garage sales or second-hand
stores is not advised.
